    Default A Call for Revolution

You live in a dark, bleak society of ruin and forgotten splendour. The strong oppress the weak and the rich abuse the poor. Knowledge is feared and ignorance embraced. Society has fractured, turning once strong communities into eagle eyed strangers watching each others every move. Adhering to curfews, although not legally enforced, are recommended for those who wish to survive in this world.

The world is grim but there are some who have had enough of the doom and gloom. These rare individuals take up lives devoted to overthrowing the dark shroud of fear that grips the land, spelunking forgotten citadels in the hopes of recovering the fabled Relics that kept the ancient world in a state of order. So far only one relic has ever been found. Unfortunately it was shattered during the last Great Rebellion, 6 decades ago.

    Background:
The world has been in its current state for hundreds of years, the collapse of the ancient empires triggered by an unknown event. Anything hinting to the nature of this disaster is quickly confiscated by those who benefit from the perpetual turmoil. As a result, very little is known about the past and most of the lands history is passed down through stories shared by a campfire. A common rumour about the Ancients is that they had control over powerful machines controlled by the raw essence of the elements themselves. Some say that the Relic found during the Great Rebellion was actually a titanic metallic beast, others that the Relic was a simple sword that gave the wielder great power. Now however the world has regressed to a medieval society of swordsmanship and archery for the peasantry. Although rumours abound that the higher classes have access to some more advanced weapons.

    Rules:

1, You control a single character, not a nation or a corporation.
2, No circumventing rule 1 by controlling a single character in control of multiple people.
    3, Godmodding is forbidden.
    -Godmodding:
The control of another players character without their public permission. If given permission you must not act in a way that would be out of character.
    4, Avoid powermodding.
    -Powermodding:
Making yourself several magnitudes stronger than every other character without appropriate build up time. If a character starts as a farm hand they aren't going to be beating a battle hardened veteran after a single lesson in swordplay.
5, Rule 4 says avoid for a reason, sometimes it happens accidentally and I, the GM, will mediate on such occasions.
6, Got a complaint? Express it publicly using out of character parenthesis. Those are these things -> (( ))
7, Got a complaint that you aren't sure is valid and don't feel comfortable saying publicly? Then it probably isn't valid and shouldn't be said publicly.
8, Zman, Zmen, Zorks and Zorques are forbidden from ever posting.

((I can indeed. The ancient humans lived on the vast plains that lay between the forests of the elves and the mountains of the dwarves. The lizardmen lived in the swamplands to the far south of the continent and to this day they still make up the majority of the populace.

The humans are the average medieval human from most fantasy rps, dirty peasants who drink far too much and die far too early, rarely passing the age of 30. The elves are childlike, shorter than humans and far more graceful. Their beauty was once renowned but now they look little different from scruffy peasant children. Then you have the dwarves. Fat, short and grumpy with a tolerance for alcohol rarely matched by the other races. Their mechanical genius and wealth set them apart from the others in the past, now their ancient automatons lie broken and unused.

The lizardmen are the only sentient race that never established into a formal empire, preferring instead to live as nomadic clans roving the swamps. As a result they haven't been hit as hard by the fall from grace the other races experienced. All races are found in mixed towns and villages now however.))

    Name: Rael Denoris
    Gender: Male
    Race*: Half-human, half-lizard
    Age: 17
Physical Appearance: Rael is scrawny by human standards, due to his lizard blood and their typically wiry frame. He has pale red scales around his eyes and along his arms, the only real outside indication of his lizard blood. Standing at just under 6 foot, Rael tends to go unnoticed in large crowds, a factor that contributed largely to his chosen career. You see, Rael is an assassin by trade. He dyes his hair black when on missions but it is otherwise a vibrant red colour, serving to accent the scales on his face.

Background: From a young age Rael always felt excluded from the games of other kids his own age. Many thought the scales around his eyes were a symptom of the Blood Pox, while the lizard children disdained him for his smooth skin. Although the two groups would happily play together, little Rael was just an oddity, a rarely seen cross breed of two societies. This contributed to the young Raels decline into mischief and trouble making, born out of a desire to have a place he belonged. At the age of 7 his antics earned him that place, when he became a runner for a local band of thieves operating out of the capital of Andrysel, his home town.

As he grew older, he learned to pick the pockets of large crowds as he made his deliveries. His poxlike appearance and short stature made him invisible to everyday folk, and in turn the perfect thief. However his promising progress within the thieves hierarchy was dramatically ended during his first real job. Halfway through a routine burglary, while being judged by one of the elder thieves, the occupants awoke and Rael was forced to kill them. When the elder saw the bloodlust in Raels face, the childs hopes of becoming a world class thief were dashed. Instead, the thief spirited him away and introduced him to the darker side of the capitals underworld.

Now 17 years old, Rael has been an assassin in training for 5 years and is finally ready for his first solo mission, and the final part of his initiation.

((This is both an example character and my own character. Also, it should be mentioned that nobody starts with the ability to use magic (and few will develop that ability naturally either, but that can be explained later through plot) and we all start in the capital city.))

    Name: Constantine Sondar
    Gender: Male
    Race*: Human
    Age: 25
Physical Appearance: Tall, dark and grim, Constantine is the very image of dark justice made manifest. He stands taller than most men but unless he lets his presence be known his posture casts the illusion of being much shorter and much less noticeable, unless he draws himself up to his full and terrifying height. His eyes are a peculiar mix of blue and silver, the left eye almost colorless in the iris and with that side of his face bearing a long and thin scar from the brow across the eye and down to his cheek, more noticeable is the tattoo of a cross entwined with a serpent that has been inscribed on top of this scar.
Background: There will always be men like Constantine in a world where magic can run rampant; the men who see the corruption inherent in such and all power and seek to root it out. Whatever tragedy launched this man on his crusade is a secret carried deep within his own memory but it haunts him still. He is driven to seek out the charlatan and the trickster as much as the true practitioner of evil; determined to rid the world of those who wield power against those who cannot. Much of his tactics rely on irony though, should he find a true practitioner of magic or some foul conjurer of tricks his usual method of dealing with them is to raise the very people they oppress against them; the powerful mages may warrant subtler methods but against the base scum of evil sometimes it is merely necessary to rouse the indignation and anger of the victims themselves and assert justice via more democratic methods.

After all, the face of evil revealed is as nothing compared to the face of justice triumphant.

    To be continued.

((Tremble in fear, i have returned :P ))

    Name: Arkan Sunstrider
    Gender: Male
    Race*: Elf (pure blood woodelf)
    Age: 25
    Physical Appearance:
A young elf, whose body has just reached maturity but about his mind the judges are still undecided.
As a wood elf his body is somewhat more athleticly muscled then the standart elves along with long dark brown hair strapped in a tail (which reaches to his shoulders, loose his hair is halway the shoulderblades) 2 emerald green eyes are what he uses to look into the world arround him, often sparkling with a calm and friendly demeanor. He stands about 1.80M tall and wears as is a custom to the forresttribes dark greenish clothes that double functions as cameoflage when in thick shrubbery. Along his belt are several pouches of herbs and a hunting dagger on each side with a piece of uncut deep blue quartz serving as a beltbuckle.
Other weapons he posses are a quiver with black featherd arrows and a simple bow ingraved with the traditional runesymbols that are supposed to give a better aim and steady shot to the one who wields it (no magic just superstition and tradition)
    Background:
Like all of the forrestclans Arkan was as they say born with a bow and arrow in his hands. But unlike many of the declining woodelves Arkan was a pure blood, meaning his blood could be traced from both sides to other forrestclans for countless of generations without a speck of dialution of any other race, even including other types of elves. He was the result of what can be called very carefull selective breeding. As such he was selected for the extensive training as a forrestwalker, or what the other races might call a tree-guardian. From the moment he was old enough to walk he was taken from his parents to begin his training. Carefully being groomed and educated in the fields of herblore and archery with a small sidepath in wielding twin daggers should the need ever arise for him to enter into melee.

Now at the 20th year of his training he has reached the last part known as the years of wandering. The ancient guardians that oversee the training had told him that he could learn nothing more from them and that he was to set out into the world. Traveling across the fast plains, city`s, villages and forrests that are part of the realm untill his 70th birthday at which point his mind would have reached full maturity from where he could take his rightfull place as a tree-guardian of one of the woodelven settlements.
